Urgent Action Needed: Call Congress TODAY and demand that DADT be repealed

May 26, 2010

The White House and the Pentagon have finally changed their tune and announced that they will now support an amendment to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT) law THIS YEAR.

This news makes it much more likely that we will lock in repeal of DADT this year.  But this fight is far from won!

Key votes in the House of Representatives and in the Senate Armed Services Committee will be taking place this week.  We must win these votes to ensure repeal, and we need your help to make sure that happens.

We need you to call Congress right now.

To contact your Representative and Senators--
  • Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121.
  • Give the operator your zip code, and ask to be connected to your Representative (and then call back to talk with your Senators).
  • Tell him that you are a constituent and that you vote.
  • Voice your support for the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  Urge him to include DADT repeal as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011.
  • Be sure and leave a message if you can't reach someone.  All calls are counted!

Please don't put off calling; we need your help TODAY.

We have waited 17 long years for this very week, and we need you to help change the lives of courageous lesbian, gay and bisexual service members who have been forced to serve under an unfair discriminatory policy for far too long.
